Hitless Rules for Crash Bandicoot
General Rules
- Taking damage from enemies or traps counts as a hit.
- Quitting while in complete darkness is allowed but may not be used to escape a hit.
- Falling to your death counts as a hit.
- Taking a hit on a bonus section still counts as a hit.
- Environments, traps or enemies that do not cause damage do not count as a hit as long as it is not specified.
- Advanced techniques like slide jump+spin and hobslide are allowed.
- You must start your run with a fresh game file to avoid using skills/collectibles that are unlocked later.
- As long as no enemies or traps are around, exiting a level is allowed.
- You’re not allowed to leave the level if you cannot stay still (e.g. levels with the wild boar, Pura, Polar, races, etc.)
- Glitchless skips are allowed. (Examples: click here)
- Major glitches are not allowed. (Examples: click here)
- For Max% runs, you must show the percentage menu at the end of the run.
- For No Triple Mask subcategory: Do not take advantage of the immunity of the triple mask. If you activated the effect, you must stay still or go back and do not eliminate or overcome a platform, an enemy or a trap.
Specific Rules for Crash Bandicoot
- Getting pushed by shield enemies counts as a hit.
- Rope riding is allowed on the bridge levels.
- Skipping the Castle Machinery level is allowed, using the green gem from the Lost City.
- If a runner encounters a forced death glitch they may continue the run as normal
General Rules for the Classic
- Runs on the PS2 & PS3 consoles are allowed.
- Runs on PS1 emulators are allowed.
- The allowed emulators are: Xebra, Mednafen, Bizhawk, Duckstation.
- Most recommended emulators for performance are Mednafen and Bizhawk.
- As For The bizhawk and duckstation emulators you need to follow the pastebin instructions beforehand.
- The runner need to specify how did they play the game (PS2/name of the emulator).
- Outrunning the hitbox is allowed (Cases where tnt/nitro explode and you dont get damaged because of your speed).
Specific Rules for Crash Bandicoot Classic
- Spinning to iframe is allowed.
- Quitting out to get rid of double masks is allowed in Lights Out and Fumbling in the Dark to avoid encountering known glitches that would result in a hit.
HUD Rules for Crash Bandicoot
To ensure a smooth verification process by our verifiers, we recommend not covering the following HUD elements. This is particularly important to help the verifier when there is an ambiguous situation, especially during boss fights.
- Wumpa counter must be visible
